Final Project Review

I have to say that this final project is great. It gave me an opportunity to actually work for a client. Before that, I felt not so comfortably taking photos of people, as you can see in my photo series. I’d rather to take photos of people doing other things instead of them looking at me (my camera). I felt in that way photos an be more natural, and that was the reason why I took close-up photos of kids listening to Melissa during the workshop. But in the rally at the supreme court, you can clearly see their emotions through their eyes. It was crowded and can be easily imbued by their passion. So I took more picture of the LAYC members looking into the camera.

Professor Llerena helped a lot, during the process of the final project as well as the whole semester. She helped with the schedule, to makes it more suitable to everyone, which is very thoughtful. Professor Llerena always have good idea on how to make our work better, and gave great suggestions all the time.

My team mates, Milana and Maxine are the best group mates among this semester. Although I only went to the rally with them, and that day was really hot and the rally was crowded, but they were strict to the schedule and we had a good time. Besides, they did a great job on their shooting, I love their pictures so much.

The shooting for the workshop was harder than the rally, because that was a after school workshop talking about college, which I think was a little bit early for those kids, and that probably the reason why most of them were unfocused on the presentation, which was hard for the shooting. Kids were talking, looking at their phones and having snacks. Also the number of youth in the center was less than I thought, and the light in the room was hard for shooting also (Milana and Maxine were so clever to ask them to shoot outside). The rally was so crowded that it was even not easy to pull out camera from the bag. But it was great, the light was great for shooting and people were so passion.

Melissa and the LAYC are the best client I can ask for. Melissa is very friendly, and she tired her best to make the shooting easier for me. She replied our email and texts as soon as she can, and using texts guided us the find she and her team during the rally.

And the final version of our final project and clients’s opinions on our work were way better than I thought. Melissa sent us an email to thank us after the day she came to the class, she also said that the pictures were wonderful that she and the organization would definitely use these pictures in the future.

For our class, it was very interesting and I learned a lot from it. All the homework were challenge but very fun.
